AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 12:1 At that particular time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath, and His disciples were hungry and began to pick the heads of grain and eat them. [Deut 23:25; Mark 2:23-28; Luke 6:1-5] |
Subject: Sabbath. |
Bible Note: You're right. The leaders have been adding to what God intended the Sabbath to be. Today, we have gone the opposite way - we do not rest and we have changed the day. Some will say they are doing good deeds to justify their actions. Cease any type of work - tasks related to your job, chores around your home, errands. Seek to become more aware of God's presence with you, and pursue encounters with Him rather than focusing on self. If you gather with others talk about Him, not your careers, children, causes and other concerns. Do not force anyone else to violate the Sabbath, by going out, being entertained and other activities. |
