Bible Question:
Matthew 11.2 When John heard in prison what Christ was doing, he sent his disciples to ask him, "Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else?" Why did he ask this after baptisting Jesues,he already knew Jesus was Gods son |
Bible Answer: Greetings Clare, The MacArthur study bible says that understandably confused in the things that were happening. He was imprisioned, and Christ was carrying on a ministry of healing instead of judgement. John had preached that those who rejected Jesus would be baptized with fire, but Jesus was carrying on a ministry of mercy and grace instead of asserting His messianic claims. He also wondered why was he still in prison. John was confused about the first and second comings of Christ. Christ understood this and sent him a message that comforted him. Isn't it great that when we get confused that Christ understands and sends us the comfort we need? prayon |
