Subject: Preach the Gospel not an agenda |
Bible Note: 1 Corinthians 1:17 (KJV) 17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. Today many us wisdom of words instead of the truth of the Cross in sermons, preaching, teaching, and even in forums. Man is easily impressed but also easily intimidated by people that use wisdom of words. We are warned there are wolves around us that would suck the truth of scripture out of us. Often these wolves are have no intention of being wolves but have been deceived themselves by careful use of the wisdom of words of others. Often people with flowing terms about the greatness of a man, a teaching, of a philosophy but they completely ignore the initial cost of such fame, of the teaching, of the philosophy. That cost is simply dismissed as not their problem. Even though it violated the very things our savior prayed for. Wisdom of words should never be promoted preaching the Gospel the Cross of Jesus is what is important |
