Bible Note: Hi, Brent... Yes, your speculation does sound plausible. I also like some of the thoughts that Ed has brought in on this. Of course, we are people with Deuteronomy 4:2 and Revelation 22:18-19 (at both ends of the Bible) weighing heavily on us. I am also very mindful of Paul's warning in the pastoral epistles (e.g., 2 Timothy 2:23 and Titus 3:9). How do we know that we aren't entering into the very topic that Paul warned these men? He even explicitly says that they should not be taught nor should they not be topics to which we should listen. Matthew 12:36 weighs heavily on us. If every idle word spoken will be judged, what of the those that are considered and typed into the Internet? Certainly we as men of the Word ought to be very careful that we do presume to be more confident in what the Scriptures assert than what they Scriptures actually do assert! So much as it stake here. Of course, you understand that we are not ever seeking to discover something brand new... something the rest of Christendom has failed to observe in the last two millennia. Rather we are to uncover the plain truth just as fore fathers have done (Hebrews 1:1-3; cf Acts 26:26 and Deuteronomy 29:29). In Him, Doc |
