Bible Note: Greetings Brian! You wrote: "And, don't tell me that all 30,000 groups are basicly one, because we all realize that one Protestant denomination will not have any problem testifying to another Protestant (of a different denomination) that their denomination is the truer way to Christ." This simply isn't a part of the official teachings of the various denominations. There may be some individuals who think this way, but the Protestant denominations all recognize that there is only one Church - made up of all of those who have named the name of Christ, regardless of which denomination they happen to attend. For instance, the Manual for the Church of the Nazarene says, "The Church of the Nazarene, from its beginnings, has confessed itself to be a branch of the 'one, holy, universal, and apostolic' church and has sought to be faithful to it. It confesses as its own the history of the people of God recorded in the Old and New Testaments, and that smae history as it has extended from the days of the aposltes to our own. As its own people, it embraces the people of God through the ages, those redeemed through Jesus Christ in whatever expression of the one church they may be found." Source: Church of the Nazarene Manual (1997-2001), pg. 14. No Christian, who is being taught correctly by his or her church, should ever try to convert a Christian from another Christian denomination. From a Cult - Yes! The differences are simply not as drastic as you make them out. There are not 30,000 different ways, but 1 way expressed in 30,000 different ways. The core confession of faith from every protestant denomination is essentially the same. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
