Bible Question: In Matthew 1, it says "A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David,..." I see this several times throughout the Bible and I'm confused about the "David" they are talking about and why it is used this way. Can you explain? |
Bible Answer: God's day to you, Thumper007, David was promised that his line would rule forever (2Sa 7:12; Psa 89:3, 132:11) Joseph was also called "son of David" (Matt 1:20) ... we know thta it was several generations from David to Joseph ... so it could be the line of David. Son of David probably refers to His right to rule. Just in Matthew 9:27, 12:23, 15:22, 20:30, 20:31, 21:9, 21:15, 22:42. Searcher |
