Bible Note: Hi Son of God, As much as we would like Jesus ancestry to include Gentiles, it does not make it so. The Israelites were the chosen people, not the Gentiles. I’m sure you have been reading the thread in regards to Rahab. My post on Ruth is 193476. I don’t know of any scripture that Bathsheba was not an Israelite. In Matthew 15:24 Jesus states, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." Therefore, it does not seem logical for Jesus to have Gentile ancestry. That said, this certainly changed when Christ was crucified. All families are blessed and God is able to raise up children of Abraham from stones. Please don’t read into my observation something that isn’t there. In the Book of Nehemiah, Chapter 13: 23-27, “ 23 Moreover, in those days I saw men of Judah who had married women from Ashdod, Ammon and Moab. 24 Half of their children spoke the language of Ashdod or the language of one of the other peoples, and did not know how to speak the language of Judah. 25 I rebuked them and called curses down on them. I beat some of the men and pulled out their hair. I made them take an oath in God's name and said: "You are not to give your daughters in marriage to their sons, nor are you to take their daughters in marriage for your sons or for yourselves. 26 Was it not because of marriages like these that Solomon king of Israel sinned? Among the many nations there was no king like him. He was loved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel, but even he was led into sin by foreign women. 27 Must we hear now that you too are doing all this terrible wickedness and are being unfaithful to our God by marrying foreign women?" Had Nehemiah not heard of Rahab and Ruth? Of course he had, but they were not foreign women! The significance to me is that God’s word is consistent and in harmony. I do not think Paul was referring to the genealogy in Matthew 1 or else why would it be there. Deuteronomy 7:6 "For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. Deuteronomy 14:2 "For you are a holy people to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. 1 Peter 2:9-10 But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10(I)for you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD; you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now you have RECEIVED MERCY.
