AMPLIFIED 2015 | Numbers 20:12 But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Because you have not believed (trusted) Me, to treat Me as holy in the sight of the sons of Israel, you therefore shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them." [Ps 106:32, 33] |
Subject: Why didn't Moses enter the Promised Land |
Bible Note: Dear Robert, Greetings in the name of Jesus! Your answer is correct. Please note that this was not the 'first and only' sin, though. He did not circumcise his own son: 'Now it came about at the lodging place on the way that the LORD met him and sought to put him to death. Then Zipporah took a flint and cut off her son's foreskin and threw it at Moses' feet, and she said, "You are indeed a bridegroom of blood to me." So He let him alone. At that time she said, "You are a bridegroom of blood"--because of the circumcision.' Exodus 4:24-26 NASB. And Moses did not 'follow through' with the sons of Israel: 'At that time the LORD said to Joshua, "Make for yourself flint knives and circumcise again the sons of Israel the second time." So Joshua made himself flint knives and circumcised the sons of Israel at Gibeath-haaraloth. This is the reason why Joshua circumcised them: all the people who came out of Egypt who were males, all the men of war, died in the wilderness along the way after they came out of Egypt. For all the people who came out were circumcised, but all the people who were born in the wilderness along the way as they came out of Egypt had not been circumcised.' Joshua 5:2-5 NASB. I don't know if it is 'three strikes you're out,' but I make this point because I have heard some say that Moses was so good, but cursed for but one 'minor' infraction. Such is not the case!
