Bible Note: Jonny One thing Abraham tithed long before the law Gen 14:20. Abraham did it to show honor. Can you think of any better way to put our faith to work than by honoring God with our money? Not because we have too but because we can. When you willingly give something that is so essential to our daily existance your showing your dependance in not on the gift but on the receiver of the honor. Too many are too dependant on the gift to freely give it. They resist and proclaim they are free of the law. And rightly so, but the tithe was before the law. That is why all references in the New Testament talk of freely giving. The question then becomes hang on to the money or hang onto God? The word says you can't do both. EdB |
