AMPLIFIED 2015 | Malachi 4:6 "He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers [a reconciliation produced by repentance], so that I will not come and strike the land with a curse [of complete destruction]." [Luke 1:17] |
Bible Question: In Malachi 4:6, who does the "fathers" and who does the "children" refer to? I know the Elijah spoken of there is John the Baptist....but who are the fathers and children? |
Bible Answer: My personal belief is that the fathers are our present generation fathers and mothers in our country as well as in Western European countries, but America is more relevant to me since I live here. This verse resonates very strongly with me. I found a note in my Bible the other day, where I had written (don't remember why): Is it too late to pray for our country's redemption? We have abandoned our children to day-care centers, to the TV, and other non-qualifying "fathers". Look at the dilemma we have created! We have not loved them as God wants us to love them and rest on His assurance to provide for our needs. It appears the world' culture has carved a deep space into everyone's personal life and pushed us against the wall helplessly. I strongly believe that God is calling all of us to repentance. We must not tarry in this. See Isaiah 64, a chapter which I read as a strong call to repentance. |
