Bible Question: Books in Bible "The Law","The Prophets"? |
Bible Answer: The first five books of the Bible, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy are commonly thought of as the Law, while the last 17 books, Isaiah through Malachi, are considered the Prophets. However, Jesus referred to passages in both Isaiah and Psalms as the Law: John 10:34 Jesus answered them, "Has it not been written in your Law, 'I SAID, YOU ARE GODS'?[Ps. 82:6] 1 Cor 14:21 It is written in the Law, By men of strange languages and by the lips of foreigners will I speak to this people, and not even then will they listen to Me, says the Lord. [Isa. 28:11-12] So perhaps His definitions were broader than some others. Love in Christ, Mark |
