Bible Question:
What is the significance of this verse to us as individuals as members of a local Church? (Does this call for accountability - of whom, by whom?) Thanks for thinking with me on this! mommapbs |
Bible Answer: Momma, According to David Guzik, This applies to all believers as priests, but especially to the leaders of God's people. Should we not all be leaders? Jesus said, "Lovest thou me? Feed my sheep"(Jn 21:15-17) Leaders should be people who fear God, who have integrity, fairness, fellowship with God and care for man, and most importantly have ample knowledge of God's word. This is precisely why I enjoy this forum, the increase of knowledge. Verse 7 instructs the priests to "keep knowledge" -not keep it from the people, but keep it for them. These priests were God's "mouthpiece", so to speak and it was an honorable task. The duty of the people under the priest then, is to hear the message and ask questions of the priest, so that any misunderstandings might be cleared up and mistakes should be prevented.
