NASB | Zechariah 12:10 ¶ "I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Zechariah 12:10 ¶ "I will pour out on the house of David and on the people of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace (unmerited favor) and supplication. And they will look at Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him as one who weeps bitterly over a firstborn. Subject: Was this translated completely? |
Bible Note: Greetings Followinghim! I apoligize in advance, my Hebrew is very, very rusty! :-) The two letter 'aleph' and 'tav' are in Zech. 12:10. However, the letters form a particle in Hebrew which is not translated. It ('et) is used to indentify the subject of a sentence (the accusative) or to identify the direct object afte transitive verbs. In other words, it is almost like a preposition in English, except that it is never translated. In fact, it can be used almost like a preoposition at times. It is used in some of these verses: 2 Kings 6:5, Gen. 17:5, Gen. 4:1, Deut. 1:30, and Jud. 11:27. It is interesting that it is used in Zech. 12:10, but I would not put too much emphasis upon the fact. Rev. 1:7 is sufficient to demonstrate that Jesus is God. I hope this helps!
