AMPLIFIED 2015 | Jonah 4:2 He prayed to the LORD and said, "O LORD, is this not what I said when I was still in my country? Bible Question:
could you tell me why jonah refused to obey GOD'S wish though he was a believer and was near to god's presence |
Bible Answer: II kings 19 vs 35-37 and Isaiah 37:37 and the surrounding scriptures allude to the fact that Nineveh was a city occupied by Israel's enemies. GOD was asking Jonah to go preach to his enemies. I have heard some say that Jonah was a nationalist who loved Israel so he could not imagine why GOD would ask him to do such a thing. Another thing I have heard is that Jonah was a racist. How could GOD allow some other nation, especially an enemy nation, hear the word of GOD and be forgiven. I have not done much research but these are some thoughts. see ya jungleman |
