Bible Question: I'm sorry i didn't myself clear enough I realize Jonah didn't die the ? was did he die in the belly of the big fish and then was resucitated again when he was spewed out? |
Bible Answer: Lena I thought that might be where you were going when I read you first question. Many feel Jonah had to be dead because Jesus said as Jonah was 3 days and 3 nights in the whale so must the Son of Man be in the earth. We know Jesus was dead and therefore Just like would mean Jonah was dead. However I don't think we can make that assumpation. Jesus said just like Jonah was in the whale 3 days and 3 night so would He. That statement can be satisfied without Jonah being dead. Further in chapter Jonah 2:1-9 we see Jonah praying. David in Psalms said dead men don't pray so Jonah had to be alive to pray. However the Bible does not say definitely one way or another. What we don't want to miss is the fact however God did it He miraclously got Jonah to Nineveh to accomplish His desire. EdB |
