Bible Question: In the book of Leviticus chapter18 and verse 25 God tells the children of Isreal that "For the land is defiled: therefore i visit the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land vomits out it's inhabitants." My question is how does a land vomit out it's inhabitants? Please explain. |
Bible Answer: Hi Sharolyn, In addition to my previous post, I would like to you go backward to the beginning of Chapter 18 and re-read the whole chapter. In v3, God earnestly warns the Israelites not to follow the wicked deeds (as laid out in the succeeding verses) of Egyptians' and the Canaanites' (their land is going to be taken over by the Israelite). The Canaanites have defiled the land. The land vomits out its inhabitants (the Canaanites) should be understood as God's punishment toward the Canaanites (being cast out, destroyed or exterminated) by Israelite taking over the place as their promise land. Such punishment also applies to Israelite should they follow the evil deeds of the gentiles. Shalom Azure |
