AMPLIFIED 2015 | Leviticus 16:21 "Then Aaron shall lay both of his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over it all the wickedness of the sons of Israel and all their transgressions in regard to all their sins; and he shall lay them on the head of the goat [the scapegoat, the sin-bearer], and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is prepared [for the task]. |
Bible Question: My question is in Leviticus 16 it talks about the scape-goat,my understanding of the scape-goat is when someone takes the blame for someone or a group of people on them selfs,so if Christ is the scape-goat,and the one goat was sacrificed, why was the scape-goat taking to the wilderness and giving to satan? |
Bible Answer: Hello a1busdriver, And welcome. The scapegoat was sent into the wilderness bearing the iniquity of the people. Scripture says nothing about giving it to Satan. That theory was concocted as an explanation for what was happening, but there is no basis for it. Steve |
