Bible Question:
In Mark 11:12-14 its says: 12 On the next day, when they had left Bethany, He became hungry. 13 Seeing at a distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if perhaps He would find anything on it; and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. 14 He said to it, ""May no one ever eat fruit from you again!'' And His disciples were listening. My understanding is that the fig tree is a representation of a believer and the point of these verses is to show the importance of bearing fruit. My question is, why would Jesus seek figs at a fig tree if it was not in season? Also, why did He curse it? Does this mean that we are to bear fruit in season and out of season? |
Bible Answer: I believe that a Christian is to bear fruit always. In His word it says that you know THEM by their FRUIT. We must also be ready in season and out. I believe that you can turn your back on God and lose your salvation because the Word says your name can be blotted out of the book of life. So maybe the believer is represented by the Fig Tree....once a fruit bearer but then quit bearing fruit. So God cursed it. In God's Word it also states that we can CHOSE a blessing or a cursing. So who is it that blesses and curses. (Is it God?) oh well....something else to think about |
