Bible Question: why did Hosea marry prostitute |
Bible Answer: Hi, Grahame! The previous posts from justme and Mommapbs are right on the mark. When you read the complete passage you would note that though Hosea was separated to serve God (made holy), God commanded him to marry a prostitute in order to make a representation of of Israel--as they prostituted themselves with pagans and their customs and their gods ignoring the Love the One True God had for them. A prostitute, by definition, rejects love, defies authority and welcomes the most defiling acts in exchange for money and/or power! (I am not talking about the people that are forced into prostitution--only those who elect that life style.) God Bless! |
