NASB | Daniel 9:27 "And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate." |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Daniel 9:27 "And he will enter into a binding and irrevocable covenant with the many for one week (seven years), but in the middle of the week he will stop the sacrifice and grain offering [for the remaining three and one-half years]; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until the complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who causes the horror." |
Bible Question: What is the probable bible scholars' enterpretation on the "the one who makes desolate" or on the niv version "the abomination that causes desolation" |
Bible Answer: Compare to Daniel 8:9-12; In the context of Dan 9:27 it speaks of the "he" (the one who makes desolate)causing the sacrifice and the oblation to cease. In Daniel 8:9 the "he" is call "a little horn" and this little horn in verse 10 "cast down of the host and of the stars to the ground" (Revelation 12:3,4 3And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. 4And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth...) Then the little horn in verse 11 takes away the daily sacrifice. Conclusion, the "he" that is "the one who makes desolate" of Dan 9:27 is the little horn of Dan 8:9 who is the dragon of Rev 12:4. |
