Bible Note: I must admit this controversy about life from the test tube of a scientist sometime in the future is probably going to be a very severe problem for our generations in the future, maybe even our grandkids or our great-grandkids. Suffice it to say at the current rate of progress in this field of genetics, my wife and I were motivated to teach our boys as solid a faith in God as possible. We talked about this at length and spent many nights in prayer about it. Here's the bottom line I presented to my family. Even when and if that day does appear and some strange new form of life does progress and graduate from a scientist's test tube, it won't shake my faith. That's because I read my Bible and in Genesis, it says "God created..." the whole universe and everything in it. That means He took nothing, an absolute void and created everything without the modern advent of science, tools and thousands of years of experienmentaion. To man, He gave the gift of intellect and the tools to make his world of tools and science. So this latest development of science doesn't shake my faith and I did my best to instill that same degree of devotion and faith in our sons. That's about all I can recommend to all of us. Each of us must study and think about this because this storm of controversy is coming along with all the legal and moral consequences so we need to steel ourselves to anchor ourselves in our faith to God. I don't really think there will be much of a way of retarding this kind of progress as it's always been difficult to stop this kind of ocean of development with mankind in the past. But we do need to cling to the "Rock of Ages" and train up our young people to do likewise. The continuing trend to disrepect God and leave Him behind in this scientific onslaught will not be pretty and I'm a big fan of science, astronomy, etc. I do sincerely hope this post is helpful and somewhat uplifting to everyone reading it. God's people are all to be encouraged to be faithful. God bless. Rowdy |
