AMPLIFIED 2015 | Daniel 12:4 "But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the scroll until the end of time. Many will go back and forth and search anxiously [through the scroll], and knowledge [of the purpose of God as revealed by His prophets] will [greatly] increase." [Amos 8:12] |
Bible Question: Is this speaking about the knowledge explosion as we understand it today with knowledge about everything doubling every few years? |
Bible Answer: Dear Doc, consider the world of today, and as it was 100 years ago. 100 yrs ago, people depended on animals for transportation, as they did in biblical days. Now, look at the timespan between the discovery of fire and the invention of the wheel, the stone age (Neolithic period), the Bronze age (3500-1000 B.C.) and the iron age (1000 B.C.). Now, look at the small distance between the transportation age and the computer age. There is no doubt in my mind that knowledge is increasing at a rapidly multiplying pace. Proverbs 2:6 tells us, "For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth [cometh] knowledge and understanding." What this tells me is that the speed in which we gain knowledge is controlled and has always been fore-ordained by God. It is doubtless to many that the prophesied end times have already begun, but our knowledge is sadly lacking as to how long they will last. Praise Him. Tim |
