NASB | Ezekiel 28:2 "Son of man, say to the leader of Tyre, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Because your heart is lifted up And you have said, 'I am a god, I sit in the seat of gods In the heart of the seas'; Yet you are a man and not God, Although you make your heart like the heart of God-- |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ezekiel 28:2 "Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Because your heart is lifted up And you have said and thought, 'I am a god, I sit in the seat of the gods In the heart of the seas'; Yet you are [only] a man [weak, feeble, made of earth] and not God, Though you [imagine yourself to be more than mortal and] think your mind is as [wise as] the mind of God-- |
Bible Question (short): Yet you are a man and not (g)God? |
Question (full): Ezekiel 28:2, KJ, "Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord God; Because thine heart is lifted up and thou has said, I am a god, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:" I would suggest a comparison of this verse with 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 and Psalm 82:1, "God takes His stand in His own congregation; He judges in the midst of the rulers [Lit. gods]. I agree with the NASB in its interpretation of this verse. I am looking for any discussion on the quote in the verse, "I am a god, I sit in the seat of gods, In the heart of the seas";..."
