Bible Question:
Where do we Jesus as in the BOOK of Ezekiel 1 as a 1. Lion in the book of matthew 2.Ox in the book of mark 3.MAN in the book of luke 4.Eagle in the book of john |
Bible Answer: achigovera, The animals represent the four Evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, not Jesus. They are "messengers", the meaning of the word angels, with God's message, the Gospel. So this image in ezekiel of the angels or messengers of God has been applied by tradition to the four Evangelists. To a certain extent the attributes also apply to how Jesus is portrayed in the various Gospels, The Lion of the tribe of Juda in Matthew, a Man of power in Mark, a Man in the universal sense in Luke, who trace the geneology of Jesus back to Adam and an eagle soaring above everything and everyone else in John. Ezek 1:10 As for the form of their faces, each had the face of a man; all four had the face of a lion on the right and the face of a bull on the left, and all four had the face of an eagle. Emmaus |
