Bible Note: We see the fulfillment of this prophecy from Jeremiah in the establishment of the Lord's church roughly about 33 AD. God delegated His authority to rule over such matters as cited below. Matt 28:18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Thus we see the transition from the OT to the NT with a much covenant, with much better promises. This is made very clear in Heb 10. The whole book Hebrews is devoted to contrasting the superiority of Christ's covenant with that of the Law of Moses. Don't get me wrong and misunderstand about the 10 commandments. Indeed, 9 of the 10 are quoted by the NT and are expanded upon. For example, we are not only to avoid "murder" with "Thou shalt not kill," now we are love and even forgive our enemies instead of going with "an eye for an eye." But the best thing about discarding the authority of the OT for us as modern christians: we get to experience true freedom from our sins. In OT era, God's people didn't have a clear picture of redemption nor did they have a clear picture of Heaven. Now we have those and much more. Our High Priest is the very Son of God whereas their's was the current son of the Levite tribe. We get to pray directly to God our Father as truly adopted sons, with Christ as our senior brother, acting as a intermediary. Yes, there's so much for which we have to be thankful. God bless all who read and obey God's Word. |
