AMPLIFIED 2015 | Isaiah 9:6 For to us a Child shall be born, to us a Son shall be given; And the government shall be upon His shoulder, And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. [Is 25:1; 40:9-11; Matt 28:18; Luke 2:11] |
Bible Question:
In Isaiah's prophecy, Jesus is called the Prince of Peace. Christians refer to his as the Gospel of Peace, and indeed, Christ's sermon on the mount promotes meekness and patient suffering in the face of threats to one's own personal security. As followers of Jesus, I would think that we would find Christians more often than liberal ideologues protesting war in the streets. Why does it seem that Christians are the most supportive of the United States' preemptive war? |
Bible Answer: proffitt_79 I do not presume to answer for Hank so I will let your question stand. But let me address so of what your asking. First we see in Luke 3:14 Likewise the soldiers asked him, saying, "And what shall we do?" So he said to them, "Do not intimidate anyone or accuse falsely, and be content with your wages." The soldiers are asking John the Baptist what they should do, notice he does not tell them to lay down their arms and become pacifists. While I know this isn’t Jesus talking Jesus did have amble time to correct this if John had been wrong. Jesus also dealt with soldiers, the healing of a centurion’s slave here again Jesus never remarked about his profession. In fact no where in the New Testament do we see a call for soldiers to lay down their arms. On the other hand we do see Jesus’ own disciples carry arms to defend themselves. Peter cutting the ear of the servant at Jesus’ arrest. Other times the disciples showed Jesus their swords ready to fight and Jesus told them not to get rid of them but to put them away. In Revelations Jesus Himself is the leader of the army that returns to earth do battle with Satan and his deceived hordes. Jesus astride a white horse with a flaming sword will lead the heavenly army to victory. You mention the preemptive strike. Let me say that is a media sound bite. They are rewriting history before your very eyes. Everything that has occurred after 911 is anything but preemptive. That is like saying the World War II in the Pacific was a preemptive attack. Don’t let the media shape the truth for you, you were alive 911 you saw with you own eyes the lives the enemy snuffed out. Innocent men, women and children killed is a sneak attack on this nation. We were attacked by people that want to see this nation destroyed and if we do not defend ourselves they will achieve their goals. We must seek them out whether they are in Afghanistan or Iraq or where ever the holes they hide exist and we must crush them. You mentioned Christians supporting George Bush. Yes in most case we do. Why? Because he has morals, he stands against abortion, against homosexuality, against pornography. He holds the family sacred, holds life dear and supports Christian values. Is he perfect no but then who is. Let’s look at the other party they rushed to defend a man that was having sex in the White House, lying saying he didn’t, forwarded abortion rights, forwarded homosexuality, mocked morality and lived in open defiance of God. This has historically for the last 20 years the basic stance of Democratic party. Abortion, homosexuality, pornography under the guise of freedom of speech, the tearing down of the family by promoting same sex marriage has been their platform. Why is everyone can overlook a man that looked into the cameras and lied to this nation saying I did not have sex with that woman yet focus so intently on a man that said this nation will hunt down and bring to justice the men and the nations that supported them that did this thing on 911. How quickly we forget and want to move back into our comfort zones. If we didn’t lose someone in 911 we are now willing to let bygones be bygones and say shame on you. The question you need to be asking is our freedom worth defending? No one wants to go to war, no one wants his/her life in jeopardy yet history has proven if we don’t defend against those that would destroy us we will lose our lives in our homes. EdB |
