AMPLIFIED 2015 | Isaiah 9:6 For to us a Child shall be born, to us a Son shall be given; And the government shall be upon His shoulder, And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. [Is 25:1; 40:9-11; Matt 28:18; Luke 2:11] |
Bible Question:
In Isaiah's prophecy, Jesus is called the Prince of Peace. Christians refer to his as the Gospel of Peace, and indeed, Christ's sermon on the mount promotes meekness and patient suffering in the face of threats to one's own personal security. As followers of Jesus, I would think that we would find Christians more often than liberal ideologues protesting war in the streets. Why does it seem that Christians are the most supportive of the United States' preemptive war? |
Bible Answer: As Norm stated, Matt 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet." Jesus words instruct us not to protest war. Do a word study on the clue words "not be troubled" and discover that word means "to cry aloud, make a noise by outcry." "Must come to pass" words mean "it is necessary. it right, it is proper." God's ways are higher than ours and although we think of "war" as from the devil, many have already come to Christ BECAUSE of the present war in Iraq. Both our soldiers and the Iraqis. We should be protesting against what the news media declares rather than fighting against what God is doing there. During the Iranian and Iraqi 'crisis' many from both sides began their walk with the King of Kings and the Prince of Peace. An American missionary friend of mine actually entered into Iran DURING the embassy hostage situation, many times. Prior to that crisis, he hadn't been allowed. TommyS |
