Bible Question:
Isaiah 65:17 "Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind." Ok my question is what is the exact meaning of this scripture? How should it be interpreted? I understand that it is refering to a new heaven and a new earth, but I am just confused? What new things? Is it when God comes to retreve us Christians and the 7 years of sufferings begin or what? |
Bible Answer: Jeka420 Many people have the mistaken impression that what is now called heaven is our final resting place. However Rev 22:12-15 tells us differently our final home will be the New Jerusalem which will be upon the Earth. Rev 21:1 tells us the old Earth has passed away. And 2 Peter 3:10-12 tells us how by fire. What Isaiah is saying here is once the old earth and heavens (atmosphere) is destroyed by fire and the new Earth comes that the old things, things tainted with sin will be gone, loss, forgotten. Only righteousness will be practiced and all the hurt, shame, and anger will be gone forever. EdB |
