NASB | Isaiah 61:3 To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a garland instead of ashes, The oil of gladness instead of mourning, The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Isaiah 61:3 To grant to those who mourn in Zion the following: To give them a turban instead of dust [on their heads, a sign of mourning], The oil of joy instead of mourning, The garment [expressive] of praise instead of a disheartened spirit. So they will be called the trees of righteousness [strong and magnificent, distinguished for integrity, justice, and right standing with God], The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified. |
Bible Question: I am holding a ladies event using a theme based on Isaiah 61:3. I really would just like any comments or reflections about this verse to assist me in preparing my notes. |
Bible Answer: Yeshim There is an artist my sister likes called Crystal Lewis a gospel singer. She has a song based on this one verse and the first two verses called Beauty for Ashes on an album of the same name. Quote, Crystal Lewis, Beauty for Ashes; He gives beauty for ashes, strength for fear, gladness for mourning, peace for despair. When sorrow seams to surround you, when suffering hangs heavy on your head, know that tomorrow bring wholeness and healing, God knows your need, just believe what He said. The beauty of ashes is that out of them arises the will of God. The oil of gladness comes after mourning. In the middle of fainting if you praise the Lord He will lift you up and you will be called righteous that He may be glorified. peacebestilll |
