NASB | Isaiah 61:10 ¶ I will rejoice greatly in the LORD, My soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Isaiah 61:10 ¶ I will rejoice greatly in the LORD, My soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has covered me with a robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom puts on a turban, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. |
Subject: Bride - Church or New Jerusalem? |
Bible Note: OK, thanks. So it is probably just a matter of semantics. As I noted in v9 The bride Is The city of New Jerusalem. It is as before, just an identification. As a single parent may sometimes be identified as the missing parent to suit a given situation, he/she is never seen as actually that parent. OK - getting stonger back in the old view. It's just that everyone now seems so comfortable calling themselves "the bride" rather than "as a bride." But personally, I am much more comfortable calling myself and brothers/sisters in the Lord as "the body of Christ" - a term that actually links the two. Christ and the bride have to be two distinct entities. Alright. This works. Thanks for listening to me and helping me work thru what was trying to become a confusion. Cheri |
