Subject: fasting and prayer |
Bible Note: I have read your posts on fasting, and I have fasted for a period of 24 hours or less before. I am studying fasting myself and have found out when you fast, it's all about God, time in prayer, study and meditation. Everyone is different and some people have 24 hours or 3 days to go before the Lord, I don't. I have a husband, three children which one is 2 years old who follows me foot to foot. I agree with some of the post that the length of time doesn't really matter and God looks at your heart anyone. If I chose to skip my lunch because that is my daughters nap time, I can easily spend 3-4 hours with the Lord and he will honor that more than 24 hours and all I gave him was 1-2 hours. I have the book by Elmer Towns "Fasting for Spiritual Breakthrough" which I just started reading and I'm very excited for what I'm going to learn. We are under grace and I know that the people of God in the OT are for our benefit, I just know that God honors 10 min heartfelt prayers than 1 hour prayers in the flesh. I'm still learning about the Lord and fasting and I know that my daughter will be in school soon and I will have more time to spend with the Lord and fast. Thanks for this forum and may God bless you all! |
