AMPLIFIED 2015 | Isaiah 58:2 "Yet they seek Me day by day and delight [superficially] to know My ways, As [if they were in reality] a nation that has done righteousness And has not abandoned (turned away from) the ordinance of their God. They ask of Me righteous judgments, They delight in the nearness of God. |
Bible Question: If they (each Jew) did not know they were sinners, they had no chance of salvation. Does this, then, speak to Calvanism? |
Bible Answer: Before Christ came as the ultimate atonement for our sins, the Jews lived under various covenants. The four major ones being the Noahic, Abrahamic, Mosaic and Davidic covenannts. Under these God made provision for the Jews and those who did not live righteously according to the stipulations laid down will face the same fate as those of us today who know of and have not accepted Christ. The Messianic covenant, which is the new covenant under which we live today ratifies the failure of the previous ones but does not nullify what they have already accomplished. As the Bible says in Deuteronomy 7:9 New International Version (NIV) "Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments." |
