Bible Note: Angel: __"...little sense in filling the Bible with forumulas and theories that would be well beyond the abilities of the ancient people of Israel and the early Church"__ True. And I'm sure that you don't mean to imply that God's word, in any event, deals in theories. Modern man's basic abilities are not really superior to those of the ancients. We haven't learned much really. not about the things that count. We have better obstetrical care and yet kill more babies by design than the ancients lost by natural causes. We have developed sophisticated weaponry that allows us to kill more people in an hour than the mightiest army of old could kill in a month. But we continue still to make the same stupid mistakes, to follow idols, to see ourselves as the boss of the universe, to exalt man before God. Our moral compass is no better than any that the ancients used. We do what seems right in our own eyes still. We murder our own countrymen in the streets and our own children in the womb. We honor the gods of material success and avarice and will readily lie, cheat, and steal to get what we want. We wink at divorce, accept adultery as a way of life. and dare not speak out against pre-marital sex and other forms of immorality. We have decreed that the perversion of homosexuality is not only legal but something to be celebrated as an alternative lifestyle. We teach our children the theory of evolution as if it were a scientific fact, yet forbid the teaching of creationism on the grounds that it is a religious myth, and therefore teaching it violates the Constitution. The fact that Darwin's theory is no more in unison with modern science than it is with Scripture doesn't daunt the secular humanists who control our school system. Even the churches, many of them, have replaced the pure gospel of Jesus Christ with the self-serving heresy of the gospel of health and wealth, as if to say that our blessed Lord gave His life so that we could all enjoy physcial health and be rolling in dough. These churches have lost their identity as the body of Christ and have become indistinguishable from the world. --Hank |
