Bible Note: The only thing that I can offer is to encourage your questioners to seek their hearts for God's will for them individually and personally. Is their giving because God is asking them to give or is it because they feel they have to live up to a commandment? In the case of the former, I think the answer is a personal thing and cannot be answered in a blanket, generic sense which is all that we can do here in a forum. In the case of the latter, it seems to me to be living under the Law. Food for thought, can't first fruits be something other than financial in nature like visiting the poor or the sick or the imprisoned? Gal 5:18 - But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law. |
