Bible Question:
Searcher56: Are you perhaps approaching this passage from too literal of a perspective by limiting it to a discouse between a Lover and the beloved? Do you believe that this book is only for married couples? It is God's Word and "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousnessis" 2 Tim 3:16 It seems to me that any believer should expect to receive edification from ALL of God's Word. When I read this book, I see the love of Christ expressed for His beloved, but is the beloved Israel or the Church or both? Comments? |
Bible Answer: This is for our teaching, reproof, correction, training in righteousnessis ... while some believe this is an allegory between God-Israel or Christ-church, I do not. I do not believe we will ever be that intimate with Christ ... first, because we are not married to Him, yet ... and when we are, I do not see this fitting in. As I read the NT, I do not see this kind of language or intimacy. Do you? Israel was never this close with God, unless you see somethinhg I do not. Searcher |
