Bible Question: A non-christian friend i have asked me about Ecclesiastes 7:3-4 She if christians are supposed to be sad all the time. I replied with a no, and a bible verse about rejoicing. She says that this is a contradiction, but i know that there is something i'm missing about history or context. Please help with my confusion!! |
Bible Answer: James 1:2 says, "Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials." Think about James 4:9, "Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom." Read the context of these verses. We are not happy ALL the time "Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep" (Rom 12:15). |
