Bible Note: More Reading... 1 Corinthians 7:1-40 These verses are all about what you are speaking of. In these verses the Apostle Paul speaks of encouraging those who can be like him - without a wife, wholly devoted to spreading the good news of Jesus and being lead by God for the purposes of his good work. BUT!!! Paul knows that God created man and woman to be together so he does not discourage marriage and indicates it is not sin to need a wife. If you are inclined for the need of a wife then it is AOK to have a wife. Otherwise Satan has a means to lead you into temptation through the thorn in your flesh that causes man to hunger for women. (Notice the plural?) If you have the thorn of lust it will not go away by avoiding marriage. It only becomes stronger and leads your eye to bounce from woman to woman. A wife helps you control your lust through the release of desire through intimate relations in the marital bed. A wife should know all there is to know about her man and should be your help-meet to remove the thorn of lust through valid marital relations. God designed man to desire a woman so as to be fruitful and multiply thus out-producing unbelievers with children that can be raised up in the knowledge of God, becoming believers in Christ our Lord. It is one of my great pleasures to sit with my children teaching them the bible so that they can become knowledgeable in the truth and word of God. Raise up your children in the way they should go and in their old age they will not depart from it. |
