AMPLIFIED 2015 | Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision [no revelation of God and His word], the people are unrestrained; But happy and blessed is he who keeps the law [of God]. [1 Sam 3:1; Amos 8:11, 12] |
Subject: Where there is no vision, people perish? |
Bible Note: Excellent answer Mark Sutton. A word study of the word “vision” will lead the student to the word “revelation” and eventually to the meaning “God’s Word”, “God’s law” or “God’s restraint”. In other words, “without God’s Word or Law (restraint) the people will perish” I believe Amos 8:11-12 expounds on this idea "Behold, days are coming," declares the Lord GOD, "When I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine for bread or a thirst for water, But rather for hearing the words of the LORD. 12"People will stagger from sea to sea And from the north even to the east; They will go to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, But they will not find it.” |
