NASB | Proverbs 24:16 For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, But the wicked stumble in time of calamity. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Proverbs 24:16 For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, But the wicked stumble in time of disaster and collapse. [Job 5:19; Ps 34:19; 37:24; Mic 7:8] |
Bible Question:
The Bible says - the righteous may fall 7 times, but they will rise again. What does this literally mean? |
Bible Answer: If I'm reading it correctly, Proverbs 24:15-16 is one sentence/proverb. PR 24:15 Do not lie in wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; Do not destroy his resting place; PR 24:16 For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, But the wicked stumble in time of calamity. Reading the whole proverb is a warning to those who plan evil against the righteous. The righteous man may fall, but he will be restored. The wicked will ultimately end in destruction. |
