Bible Question: I need explanation |
Bible Answer: Upon reading Proverbs and the other Books of Wisdom, one must allow the author what we call "poetic license." To "buy truth" simply means to do whatever it takes to acquire it. In this case, read and STUDY the Word of God. Many people read God's Word and get very little from it. One must compare difficult verses to other verses in the Bible on the same subject for the Bible truly is Its own best Commentary. One might refer to the age-old story about the young person approaching the virtuoso pianist and say to him, "I'd give anything to play the piano like you just did." His reply, "That's exactly what it will cost you as I did give up everything else in my life so I could play a piano like that." All of us want what the Bible promises, that is peace and contentment in our lives but so few in the world are willing to pay the price and study the whole Bible to find out the answer God has provided for us. The Bible remains the single most popular Book of all time but so few of us really study it adequately. Psalm 119:97 Oh, how I love Your law!It is my meditation all the day. Luke 10:27 So he [Jesus] answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’” BTW, I hope you all know I'm also preaching to myself here. |
