Bible Question: I am unhappy in my Church What is something to do before making a change. I hope its not me. I am praying about it. and wanting God leading. I need to be where God is moving and seeing great things happen. Your Advice. Thanks. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Grace7044! I've expanded what you wrote a bit, but here is what you have stated: "I am unhappy . . . I need to be where God is moving . . I need to be seeing great things happen." And yet you also stated that "you WANT God's leading." Seems to me that you have your perceived needs and desires ahead of God. I'm sorry if this is a hard pill to swallow, but I can fully relate to your feelings! I must speak the same words of warning into my own soul. God knows what YOU NEED and He will provide! Acording to the profile you shared, right now you are the pianist for your church body. Who are you serving: yourself or God? God calls us to where He can accomplish His purposes for us. And sometimes God keeps us in a place to accomplish His purposes. At times WE may be part of God's purpose for someone else too! Be open to that. I am reminded about the time that Judah was carried off into captivity in 2 Kings 25. All the important people were carried off to Babylon and the poorest people were left to "tend the vinyards and fields." Nebuchandnezzar appointed an overseer for the people who were left in Judah. ("there is no authority except that which God has established." Romans 13:1) The people were told: 1.not to be afraid of the Babylonian officials. (God has established their authority) 2.to settle in the land (do the work God has set before you) 3 to serve the King of Babylon (as unto the Lord?) They were also given a promise for their obedience "it will go well with you." v. 24 Notice their response in verse 26 - they fled to Egypt! (WE know what is BEST for US!) From this passage, I would encourage you to continue to examine if and how your desires line up with God's. Perhaps God intends to move through YOU and use YOU as HIS instrument to make great things happen! Even if it means you have to tend a few unbearing vines and plow an unfertile field for a while, keep looking for His hand to provide and guide! I know this is not the answer you would like to have; it would be so much simpler to just say,"If you are unhappy, it means that you should leave." But last I looked, God didn't call us to happiness; He calls us to joy - to rejoice in Him. I trust that you will desire to be obedient to Him above all else. He will bless this indeed!
