AMPLIFIED 2015 | Proverbs 1:7 ¶ The [reverent] fear of the LORD [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the beginning and the preeminent part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence]; But arrogant fools despise [skillful and godly] wisdom and instruction and self-discipline. Subject: Wisdom vs. knowledge |
Bible Note: Your words do have a very solid ring of truth to them but as DocT implies in his post on this thread, the ultimate wisdom comes from God. In addition to Proverbs, I would really recommend Ecclesiastes for the more mature christian who really wants to get into some deep stuff. We just finished this book, written by the wisest man who ever live or will live, Solomon. It's a sad commentary to his life that in spite of all his wisdom and the wonderful legacy of a wonderful relationship, his father, King David had with God...it's a shame that Solomon didn't follow his own words in Chapter 12 of Ecclesiastes and obey God's Words and keep himself pure from the world. Nevertheless, he was the world's wisest man and we can still benefit from his suggestions. Eccl 12:13 The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. Blessings to all those who obey God's Word. Country Girl |
