Bible Question:
When God himself has selected Moses to freed the Isrealits from the slavery of Pharaoh, why did God wanted to kill him? |
Bible Answer: It is my understanding according to the New International version footnotes that God sought to kill him because he had not followed his commands and circumsized his son possibly because they were living in Minian, or maybe because he was not too familiar with God's law. It could also of been that because Zipporah was a Medianite she opposed the circumcision. I believe that this might of been the case in part because as soon as Moses became ill she knew exactly what to do and circumcised the son which proves that they had definitly discussed the matter. Moses however could not fulfill the position God had planned for him as the deliverer of Isreal until he had fulfilled God's covenant of circumcision. Under Old Testament law failing to circumcise your son meant to remove yourself and your family from God's blessing. He also learned that messing with God was even more dangerous than messing with the Pharaoh. |
