Bible Question: My Christian group has a concern. Ex33:11 Says the Lord spoke face to face to Moses. Ex33:20 Says no one will look upon Me and live. Please explain |
Bible Answer: Hi, April... Just like in modern English, the Hebrew language has idioms. We say things like, "eye to eye," "sunrise," "nightfall," etc. What Exodus 33:11 is expressing is that the communication that Moses experienced with God was very personal and intimate. It does not mean that God's face was in Moses' face... nor does it imply that God even has a face. In Him, Doc |
