AMPLIFIED 2015 | Exodus 32:27 He said to them, "Thus says the LORD God of Israel, 'Every man strap his sword on his thigh and go back and forth from gate to gate throughout the camp, and every man kill his brother, and every man his friend, and every man his neighbor [all who continue pagan worship].'" |
Bible Question: I'm currently reading the book of Exodus. Can you please help me understand Exodus 32:27-29 (regarding the killing of brothers and friends)? |
Bible Answer: Dear rdn_mac... Welcome to the forum! The Israelites had committed a great evil (Exodus 32:19). It was a drunken mob (32:25a). Only those who were contrite were spared (32:29). In addition to those who were killed, God continued, at various times, to bring affliction and disease on the people for this disobedience (32:35). Did that answer your question? In Him, Doc |
