Bible Question: In ex:23:21 The angel that GOD is sending that they are suppose to listen to. He has GOD's name in him. Is this possibly Christ? |
Bible Answer: In Genesis 1:1 the word "God" is a unipleral noun (more than one). In that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are one, you could possibly say that it was Christ. However, I tend to believe that this is the Angel of God or God Himself. God usually used men who were His leaders to represent Him to the people such as Moses here and later Joshua. However, God is in effect asking that when He comes in the form of the angel, authority has been given the angel to represent Him before the people and no earthly leader will be required. In that we read on in Exodus 23:23 we see that the purpose of this angel is to bring comfort to the Israelites that God will deliver their enemies into their hands as they enter the land of Canaan. This would be evidence that the report of Joshua and Caleb was accurate when they spied out the land. They were the only two of the spies sent out that believed God's promise to deliver their enemies into their hands. It is also important that angels are sent by God, charged with a task to complete by Him. They do not appear to initiate anything on their own. I hope this helps. |
