Bible Question:
One of my college professor's stated that God approved of polygamy, using Exodus 21:10 as an example. What does the bible say about polygamy? Exodus 21:10 gives instructions for when a man takes "another woman as his wife", but Deut 17:17 gives instructions that the king should not multiply his wives, and 1 Kings 11:3-4 confirms Deut 17:17. Are there other passages to coincide with Deut 17:17? I know polygamy was not God's original intention, but many of the men of God had more than one wife (or concubines) (Abraham, Jacob, Gideon, King David, King Solomon, etc). How do I defend my position? Thanks in advance for your insight, Shpagach |
Bible Answer: when men were under the law, they were subject to the law and I guess nothing they did was defying the law, but remember they did have to offer sacrifices unto the Lord at the end of the of the year, or I think it was the end of the year. Remember when the Priest had to offer the sacrifice. But now we are under grace. After Jesus came to redeem man back to to God. |
