Subject: What does the Bible say about gambling? |
Bible Note: Hi Humility Your question is, "What does the Bible say about gambling?" This is the only scripture that even comes close to speaking of gambling. Matthew 27:35 When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots. Psalm 22:18 They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing. But as you can see, it really does nothing more than describe the same type of event that took place when the land of Israel was divided between the tribes. Joshua 18:10 Joshua then cast lots for them in Shiloh in the presence of the LORD, and there he distributed the land to the Israelites according to their tribal divisions. This casting of lots then is nothing more than a fair way of making decisions that all parties involved would agree to. But to be answering your question. There "IS NOT" any mention of gambling in the Bible. Therefore any answer stating more than "gambling, is not spoken of", is only speculation, assumption, religious doctrine, or personal belief. And our gracious host the Lockman Foundation will not allow us to delve into such discussions, as per the terms we all agreed to. You will have to do the same as others have done, deciding in your own heart, what you personally think God allows. Vintage68 |
