Bible Question: Where is it in the bible that it tells us that we cant take our own life? |
Bible Answer: Exodus 20:13 as part of God's law says "Thou shalt not murder". Also, in the New Testament in 1Cor.6:19-20 we read - "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." The Holy Bible, New King James Version, (Nashville, Tennessee: Thomas Nelson, Inc.) 1982. This clearly presents to us that we are not our own, we belong to God. Suicide is the ultimate rebellion against our Creator. Why do you even ask? Are you facing something you feel is to difficult to deal with or have you lost someone through suicide? Can you be more specific about why you ask this question? I would like to help if either is the case. Jim D. |
