Bible Question:
Does anyone know the place on the Nile and the date Moses would have been placed in the river? thank you , smudge |
Bible Answer: The scripture says: Pharaoh's daughter came down to bathe at the river. Her maidens walked along by the riverside. She saw the basket among the reeds, and sent her handmaid to get it. She opened it, and saw the child, and, behold, the baby cried. She had compassion on him, and said, "This is one of the Hebrews' children." (WEB) You can't conclude from that passage were Moses was dropped off at. Looking at a map of the mid-east and Africa will show that the Nile is a pretty long river. Moses could have been dropped anywhere in the Nile River area. As regards to the date, Henry Halley writes that it could have been 1200-1400 BCE. Hope this helps. Joshua |
